International award for the Kräuterferkel of Grilly
The Kräuterferkel of Grilly from Sipbachzell was included within more than 6000 exhibitors from 109 countries and several thousand products at the ANUGA, the world’s largest food trade fair in Cologne, in the selection of the best seven product innovations of the year 2005 in the meat sector.
The Grilly Kräuterferkel is the result of a project within the Lebensmittelcluster OÖ of the WKOÖ. Together with the University of Veterinary Medicine in Vienna, it was demonstrated that by feeding herbs to piglets, the proportion of harmful cholesterol oxides can be reduced by up to 80 per cent. The herbal piglets represent a future-oriented milestone for the nutrition, health, economy and durability of the meat.
